What is P-RNTI, SI-RNTI, RA-RNTI, C-RNTI, T-CRNTI, SPS-C-RNTI, CC-RNTI in 5G NR and LTE
If you are working in telecommunication field then you will hear this term RNTI everyday. RNTI stands for Radio Network Temporary Identifier. This is kind of a identification number and this number will help to identify a particular radio channel message. Basically, all the RNTI are used for scrambling CRC part of the radio channel message. So, this means that the UE cannot decode any radio channel message if UE does not know the exact RNTI values for each of the cases. Lets see the definition of P-RNTI, SI-RNTI, RA-RNTI, C-RNTI, T-CRNTI, SPS-C-RNTI, CC-RNTI 5G NR.
Definition of RNTIs
- What is P-RNTI :- It stands for Paging RNTI and all the paging messages are scrambled with P-RNTI.
- What is RA-RNTI :- It stands for Random Access RNTI and all the PRACH Response are scrambled with RA-RNTI. So, to decode paging messages, the UE needs to know the RA-RNTI.
- What is C-RNTI :- It stands for Cell RNTI. Once RACH is completed, Cell RNTI used to transmit messages to specific UE.
- Define T-CRNTI :- It stands for Temporary C-RNTI and During RACH this RNTI will be used.
- What is SPS-C-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Semi persistance Scheduling C-RNTI and used fore SPS messages.
- What is SI-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for System Information RNTI. Basically, this will be Used for transmission of SIB messages.
- What is TPC-PUCCH-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Transmit Power Control-Physical Uplink Control Channel-RNTI.
- What is TPC-PUSCH-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Transmit Power Control-Physical Uplink Shared Channel-RNTI.
- M-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for MBMS RNTI.
- What is CC-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Common Control RNTI.
- G-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Group RNTI.
- What is SC-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Single Cell RNTI.
- SL-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Sidelink RNTI
- What is SC-N-RNTI :- This RNTI stands for Single Cell Notification RNTI
- What is eIMTA-RNTI :- This RNT stands for Enhanced Interference Management and Traffic Adaptation – RNTI.
The idea of RNTI is the only intended device should be able to decode message so, we have RNTI for each message. Thus, it is really important to understand these RNTIs.
